Cemetery Trustees
June 1, 2012

Present: Ruth Hammen, Scott Marston, Fred Shaw

The Cemetery Trustees met at the Community Building at 9AM.

Veteran Flags:  The bill for the flags submitted was substantially higher this year than last. Trustees will volunteer to assist in flag purchase next year to find sources of less expensive flags. Also, the Trustees will seek a copy of the Cub Scout veteran list to compare to the one held by them.

Shaw Cemetery: An unknown benefactor has set a double gate in place at this cemetery within the last two weeks. The gate is appropriate in size and shape and is approved by the Trustees.

Leavitt Cemetery: Due to the rapid small wild flower growth in the spring, this cemetery needs to be mowed closer to Memorial Day next year.

Leavitt Cemetery Sign: A sign installed at the back of the cemetery prohibiting vehicular traffic has been installed after complaints of cars driving over lot corners to maneuver and turn around. This sign in no way impacts access to gravesites.

Knowlton Cemetery: Thanks to the Road Agent and town resident, Mike Mobbs, the large granite slabs have been reset on the wall.

Leavitt Cemetery: Trustees have noticed that the Colburn stone has fallen. Trustees will contact the family.

Smith-Sanborn Cemetery: This cemetery has suffered many years of neglect and is now covered with brush. The Trustees will work with Steve’s Quality Service and permission from a local abutter to clear the brush. Care must be taken as 3 rows of fieldstones mark several gravesites.

Knowlton Cemetery: Several stones with initials engraved lie along the east-facing wall of the cemetery. Trustees believe these stones once marked lots for future burials. The Trustees plan to place the stones near the headstones of those buried there.

Pineground: Several large stones have fallen over the years and Trustees will make efforts to have them returned to upright condition.
